I’ve spent the last few weeks on our household cleaners and a bit on personal care. Though I didn’t go into detail on the hazardous materials – toxins – in many of today’s personal care products – there are definitely companies I believe you would stay away from if you knew.
Have you noticed how America’s health issues are on the rise? (Big Pharma is really happy about that.) What is the cause? Why has this been happening? Toxins! Our bodies are not made to process hazardous materials – the chemicals, preservatives, herbicides and pesticides that we breathe (our cleaners) or put on ourselves (make up, skin care, perfume, shampoo, etc).
Now…our food supply. We are facing a ‘healthy food’ crisis. I’ve been watching Monsanto for a while now – have you? Do you understand what (genetically modified organism / genetically engineered) GMO and GE is? Dr. Mercola has several articles which will help with understanding these man-made health issues and why you would benefit by staying away from them.

I must admit I was really disappointed by a few names on the Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) Member Directory. I grew up with these names. I’m sure that company ownership and profit margin has quite a bit to do with their decision-making process. It’s incredibly sad (to me) that it isn’t about the consumer. Johnson & Johnson is the one I am most disappointed in because they are known for their baby products. That they use chemicals known to cause health issues and are also part of the ‘membership’ that doesn’t want food labeling really does make me angry.Our babies are our future and the most susceptible to the dangers! And then there’s General Mills who makes Cheerios. Whenever we went on a trip, the kids had dry Cheerios to munch on. They, too, don’t want us to know what’s in our food.

(LittleThingsDoMatter) It’s a question that’s been bothering me ever since my own grandson was ‘diagnosed’ as ADHD. His mom and teacher filled out a questionnaire and the ‘Dr’ said, “He has ADHD. Here’s a prescription.” At the time, he was only 6. There were only questions about his activity – nothing about his diet or even the nutrition value. Doctors are too quick to prescribe stuff to treat the symptoms – what about the cause? What those medications do to the chemicals in the brain is incredible. My little guy had severe headaches when he ‘came down’ and he said, “It hurts so bad I just want to die.”
I think the reason more kids are being labeled ADHD and prescribed drugs like Ritalin, Adderal, Concerta, etc. is because there are too many kids in the classrooms today and not enough teachers to work with the ones who may need some extra attention and exhibit a few of the Signs and Symptoms of ADHD.
Children tend to be excited, they ask a lot of questions … it’s the nature of being a child. The drugs that are given to these kids actually make them into little robots. Up to 10% of these children are wrongly diagnosed. They may be sensitive to chemicals in cleaning products, have food allergies or a combination of both. It’s simple enough to change brands and/or diet. The best part – no prescription drugs!
It could also be the child has such a zest for life, it’s darn near impossible to be still. Another thought I have is to question how the child learns. Is it audio, visual, hands-on? I learned recently (and I’ve been out of a school for a long time) that I’m a combination – I need both audio and visual. I don’t think the questions should be only about how a child acts but also why.
Look at their diet and lack of exercise. Too many children are getting a steady diet of fast food (no or very little good nutrition there) and more of them spend time sitting either in front of the TV or a computer rather than outside running and playing. PS Have you noticed the signs posted in school zones “This is a drug free area”? Wonder how many different drugs you’d see lined up in the nurse’s office? How many are really necessary?

A banana is the best fruit ever because you can say to all the above AND to the following as well: YES! They are naturally sweetened, full of potassium, a super in-between-meal snack, they contain all the 8 amino-acids our body cannot produce.
Bananas are probably the most versatile fruit: peel and eat, chop up or smash and use as a sandwich spread. (Though I haven’t tried it, my dad used to eat them with peanut butter.) Make banana bread, pudding, add to a vanilla meal shake and know your young ones are getting the nutrition their little bodies need.
