This Landmark Supplements Study could add YEARS to your life.

See the 10 tracks below to listen.

The best of science in 80 bio-optimized nutrients clinically proven to create a foundation for a longer, healthier life.

Don’t be okay with feeling just okay. If you’re like nine out of 10 Americans, you don’t eat enough fruits and vegetables, which can really affect your health down the line. Even if we eat right that no longer means you are getting all the nutrients you need. That’s a great reason to supplement what you eat. But the important question is: “How do I know the supplements I am taking are really working?”

To understand the power of this landmark study and a powerful supplement program, listen to Dr. Chaney. Then, get back to the person who sent you here.

Most folks – when thinking about food safety - don’t think about harmful food preservatives, but rather check out expiration dates, see if the dents on cans are on the seams, or maybe wonder if someone left the meat or chicken out of the fridge too long. Considering that I’m usually behind the times when it comes to learning things, I have nonetheless finally begun to understand reading food labels. Do you? It’s like learning a whole new language! Some of those big words have been made little (MSG, HFCS) but that doesn’t mean they’re any less harmful. These are chemical preservatives that have way more than 15 letters and more than half I can’t even pronounce.

I’ve discovered – after doing a bit of research – I don’t want those things in my food anyway. It’s a pretty safe bet these days, if you can’t say it, don’t buy it. Many of those things are chemical preservatives that actually do damage:

Monosodium Glutamate (MSG): some people may have short-term reactions to MSG. These reactions — known as MSG symptom complex — may include: Headache, sometimes called MSG headache, Flushing, Sweating, Sense of facial pressure or tightness, Numbness, tingling or burning in or around the mouth, Rapid, fluttering heartbeats (heart palpitations), Chest pain, Shortness of breath, Nausea, Weakness. The only way to prevent a reaction is to avoid foods containing MSG.

Sodium Benzoate and Ascorbic Acid in the same thing: you may want to consider that the combination creates a chemical known as benzene which can affect the DNA. Read more at Wikipedia.

Finding replacement foods that don’t contain the two following ingredients has been an incredibly time consuming process, but one I’m definitely glad I did:

Sodium Nitrite (I always want to say nitrate): You’ll find this in most processed foods such as bologna and hotdogs (the things kids seems to love). DEVELOPMENTAL TOXICITY: Classified Reproductive system/toxin/female, Reproductive system/toxin/male [POSSIBLE]. Info came from Science Lab.

High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS): Unlike white sugar, HFCS is digested differently when we consume it. High-fructose corn syrup is an additive that was put into use in the 1970s. It has now been discovered to go straight to your liver where it releases (get this!) an enzyme that instructs your body to store fat! The authorities on this research are now claiming it has aided the rise in obesity and disease such as type 2 diabetes. Bottom line, HFCS is an artificial additive that our bodies cannot properly break down and digest. Not only is this in most drinks and food on your local grocery store shelves but you’ll find it used in fast food places as well.

I’ve touched on just a couple of additives here. To learn more, you may want to go and bookmark Food Safety.

What an incredible recommendation for health and safety! The Center for Disease Control (CDC) has issued a policy that can truly affect everyone. This can be the avenue to take in order to remove the toxic chemicals from your workplace, the daycare your child attends, where your children go to school, but especially your home – where most people spend the majority of time.

“…Housekeeping Guidelines
CDC will ensure that products used in the workplace, such as soaps, cleaning products, paints, etc. are safe and odor-free or emit low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) to the fullest extent feasible. Only green cleaning products shall be specified and used within CDC facilities and leased spaces unless otherwise approved by the Office of Health and Safety. [...]

Non-Permissible Products
Scented or fragranced products are prohibited at all times in all interior space owned, rented, or leased by CDC. This includes the use of:
• Incense, candles, or reed diffusers
• Fragrance-emitting devices of any kind
• Wall-mounted devices, similar to fragrance-emitting devices, that operate automatically or by pushing a button to dispense deodorizers or disinfectants
• Potpourri
• Plug-in or spray air fresheners
• Urinal or toilet blocks
• Other fragranced deodorizer/re-odorizer products

Personal care products (e.g. colognes, perfumes, essential oils, scented skin and hair products) should not be applied at or near actual workstations, restrooms, or anywhere in CDC owned or leased buildings.

In addition, CDC encourages employees to be as fragrance-free as possible when they arrive in the workplace…” Read the article here. (A link to read the policy is located at the bottom of the article.)

Clean does NOT have a smell! What you’re smelling are toxic chemicals that affect the respiratory system and can cause some incredibly serious (lung) health issues – including, but not limited to asthma. My biggest issue since I removed toxic household cleaners and personal care products is that I have difficulty breathing now in schools, grocery stores (especially the cleaning product aisle), hairdressing salons, malls where there are nail salons, etc. Even going to church is tough sometimes because of some of the perfumes and colognes people take a bath in. (Well, that’s what it smells like anyway.)

We have a really serious problem in most schools. The toxins in the cleaners not only affect kids – many have asthma (and have to carry those little breathing aids we call inhalers) – but their learning and focusing ability (ADHD symptoms) as well. (Nutrition is another topic for a separate post.)

Concerned? Ready to get involved? Check out our guaranteed non-toxic cleaners and personal care products that will help keep your family as safe and healthy as possible.

Are we all “Mad” or are we simply human coping with life’s little or big issues? I don’t think there is a person on this planet that doesn’t respond to little things like distractions, or major things like death of a loved one (for me that includes crying when I lose a precious animal); kids in school getting stressed about tests, etc. There are so many issues today but when I think back to when I was a kid – the very same issues existed and no one was labeled (or very few) and put on drugs.

Could the issues be tied partially to the fact that very few of us know our neighbors? Used to be we could visit our neighbors that lived 1/2 mile or more away. Do we know the neighbors who live on either side of us – even though today – many of us can put our hands out the window and say: “May I borrow a cup of sugar?”

It really is okay to cry – it’s the opposite of laughter – and, is a cleansing which truly helps in relieving pain. It’s also okay not to like everyone. And, let’s face it…there are definitely parts of school that are NOT interesting. I learned more about socializing and making friends out on the playground and used to get my share of Vitamin D (another “major” health issue). How many kids in today’s school curriculm even have a recess outside anymore? It used to be a child’s individuality was praised, but now schools are squashing their creativity or natural gifts and replacing them with ‘score cards’ or ‘labels’.

There are many drugs being prescribed today that are dangerous to the chemicals in our brains. I believe that much of what is going in the mouth today is what is causing many of the physical/emotional health issues. Drugs are not the answer for the majority.

As a free public service, CCHR has produced The Side Effects of Common Psychiatric Drugs available as a free, downloadable report.

PS. It’s a scary world we live in today but it is possible to make it less so by being aware of what’s really happening and taking steps to live a life of joy. If the simple and free Brain Yoga (which takes as little as three minutes a day) can help people with autism and aspergers, what else is out there that is natural to benefit us?

I found it intriguing to learn there is a brain exercise that helps people like me who suffer with ‘hereafter’ syndrome. You know, you go somewhere to do/get something and then wonder, “What am I hereafter?” It’s something everyone can do and there is no cost, drugs or chemicals involved. All it takes is three minutes every day!

What I found especially fascinating though is this Brain Yoga has already been proven to help a few of those with learning disabilities such as autism and asperger’s. It’s helping them get to the next level of learning or coping!

P.S. Even though Brain Yoga may sound and look a bit hokey, don’t you think it might be worth at least a trial run of 30 days? (At the very least, you’ll end up with leaner thighs from all the squatting.)

I had the following 12 Rules You Can Live By up in a frame while my kids were growing up and have them up again for the grandkids. They seemed to help lessen my stress levels (way back when). Maybe they’ll help you:

If you open it – close it;

If you turn it on – turn it off;

If you unlock it – lock it;

If you move it – put it back;

If it belongs to someone else and you want it – get permission;

If you borrow it – return it;

If you don’t know how to operate it – leave it alone;

If you use it – take care of it;

If you break it – repair it;

If you can’t fix it – call someone who can;

If you mess it up – clean it up;

If it will brighten someone’s day – say or do it.

As a Mom and Grandmom, I am continuously looking for ways to lessen the stress levels and have realized that structure and routine are very important to children (of any age – my own included). Looking for the positive side in life’s happenings also makes for healthier, happier times, but I’ll cover that in a future post.

Life’s struggles can cause a lot of stress and worry which then take a toll on your health causing many different illnesses IF you allow it.

There are so many incredible people on this planet. Following is a very short video on how one amazing man has turned an accident into a way to help people (without undue stress or worry). But, then again, that’s Zig Ziglar with “Embrace The Struggle“!

I don’t write about studies usually, but found the following article interesting and appreciate Dr. Chaney for sharing. I’ve taken vitamins and supplements for the past five years and feel like I did almost 20 years ago. I wasn’t always into feeding my body what it needed – but what tasted good. I never thought about the long term health affects certain foods could have or that I wasn’t getting what I needed. I was allowing my body to become a breeding ground for illness and/or disease. My own immune system was at risk and my health was in a downward spiral.

“The Vitamins and Lifestyle Study” (Pocobelli et al, American Journal of Epidemiology, 170: 472-483, 2009).

The study surveyed 77,719 residents of Washington State, aged 50 to 76, for supplement usage and lifestyle differences.

With respect to supplement usage the study participants were separated into those who took multivitamins at least 6-7 times/week, those who took at least 215 mg of vitamin E/day, those who took at least 322 mg of vitamin C/day and those who took no supplements at all.

The groups were further stratified so that there were no lifestyle differences between the supplement and non-supplement groups.

The study then compared the supplement and non-supplement groups with respect to both cardiovascular mortality and total mortality over a 10-year period.

The results were not surprising to those of us who have been closely following this kind of research.

The multivitamin users had a 16% reduction in risk of cardiovascular mortality compared to those who were not using any supplements at all.

The people who took at least 215 mg of vitamin E/day had a 28% decrease in cardiovascular mortality and an 11% decrease in total mortality compared to the non-supplement users.

And the people who took at least 322 mg of vitamin C/day had a 25% decrease in cardiovascular mortality and 9% decrease in total mortality compared to non-supplement users.

Although this study focused on single supplements rather than the multiple supplements, the results are fully consistent with the results of the Landmark study of Shaklee supplement users.

The Landmark study showed that long term supplement users were healthier. This study shows that long term supplement use decreases the risk of dying (early).

Together these studies show that long term supplement use leads to a longer AND healthier life. You would think that something this simple that everyone could do to decrease their risk of disease and death would be big news. But somehow this study never made it to your local newspaper or Internet news service. Do you suppose that’s because only bad news sells?

P.S. Kids and the elderly’s health is at risk. They need vitamin and mineral supplements to help build their immune systems especially during the flu season.
